Exactly how does Puzzitive make money?

Two ways, and we would rather say so plainly. A single short ad plays before a puzzle opens on the free plan: servers that store the library, cut the puzzles and generate images cost money every day, and that ad is what covers them. Beyond that, you can buy AI generation credits, or take a subscription that removes ads. Playing the curated library, playing your own photos, and every piece count from 2 to 1,000 are free and always will be. Nothing about the core game is gated.

So there really are no ads during gameplay?

Correct. Once the board is open the screen is yours: no banner across it, no scrolling ad strip down the side, nothing that appears while you are moving pieces, no ad when you finish. The one ad on the free plan plays before the board opens, so it never lands in the middle of a relaxed half hour - and a subscription removes even that.

Why do so many puzzle apps feel like this?

The common complaints in this category are consistent: ads mid-puzzle, ads that get harder to close, subscription prompts with no clear way to decline, and content that was free becoming paid after an update. Puzzitive is built so those situations cannot arise: the entire ad surface is one short spot before a puzzle opens, nothing that was free becomes paid later, and the subscription only ever removes ads.

What does the optional subscription actually do?

It removes ads, for people who would rather pay and never think about it again. It does not unlock puzzles, piece counts, art styles or image quality, because none of those are locked in the first place.

Is the free version limited in any way?

Not in the ways that matter to a puzzler. Every piece count from 2 to 1,000, every curated image, every one of your own photos, every difficulty level, hints and unlimited zoom are all available for free.

Do I need credits to play?

No. Credits are only for generating new images with AI. You can play forever without ever generating one.

What happens if I cancel the subscription?

You keep playing exactly as before, and the images you generated remain yours. The only change is that the short ad before a puzzle opens comes back.
